Anyway, I wanted to give a quick post on this great workshop hosted by Zack Arias, an Atlanta music photographer who is well-known for his artistic lighting techniques. I highly recommend it to all my photog buddies (no, dave, that's not a buddy who photographs hotdogs) and would encourage everyone to try to make it at some point...
Anyway, Zack started the workshop by hosting a mixer at his studio Tuesday night for Atlanta photographers and workshop attendees, and then we started the next morning with a lecture/demonstration of how one simple off-camera speedlight can improve the quality of your photographs (hence the name OneLight). That afternoon and evening, we were given the opportunity to practice; we first shot in-studio and then headed out on location to use varying lighting conditions (including a cloudy sunset and then complete darkness). There were about 12 photographers at the workshop, and we were in groups of 3-4 shooting and workshopping until about 2:00am. After the hands-on practice, Zack showed us some of his post-processing techniques in Lightroom and then finished up with a talk about business and marketing.
Everything about the workshop was wonderful including the people and the food (Chick-fil-a biscuits, Moes, and Mellow Mushroom all in one day... holla!), and I feel like the benefits will be long-lasting, as now I more fully understand the relationship between flash and ambient light and I feel more confident controlling it in different environments. I am very grateful to Zack for his clear explanations of these very technical topics, and I can't wait to put this knowledge to work.
Anyway, here are some photos I took during our long day of practice...

Great photos and glad you learned some new fun things. Question: Do you have carry that balloon /tent light thing around with you now?
haha... yes, but don't worry, it pops down small and is easy to carry around. :)
Looks like fun! I'd love to talk with you about what you learned there. Maybe on our shooting date :)
"Hey, lemme see what you just got....did you get some good ones?" LOL....what a blast it was. You've put up some great shots here.....wow, I love your new lens....lens envy here! Awesome website y'all have. Can't wait to see more great images with your "lights".
